Castle Howard

This is Castle Howard; a stately home near York. Yesterday there was a Queen tribute act there playing with the English National Orchestra. Hence the crowd.

The manor house is still in use, the family living there was having a party in their own quarters to coincide with the night out. To be honest, I'm not sure I envy them their lifestyle; with all the expences and tourists.

  1. Isn't this where Brideshead Revisited was filmed? Welcome to CDP! This is a lovely, unusual shot of the castle precisely because of the crowd!

  3. I've never seen Brideshead Revisited, so I'm not sure. Thankyou, nice to meet you both.

You don't have castles in Norway? To ask a stupid question, why not? I'd have thought there were castles where-ever there is medeival countries with borders.

  4. Hello again.
The Royal Family have castles. (www.kongefamilien.no) But we do not have many rich old families with castles.
Some nice historical hotels and big farmhouses we have.
To me it is interesting to visit buildings, gardens etc. open to the public, like me, as a tourist in England .:-)
