City Trees

This tree is in a part by the River Ouse. I like the way it has obviously taken damage over the years from the Human obsessive need to stamp its presence onto things, but it is healing its superficial scars slowly. And if you think of it, it's doubtful that it would even exist if humans hadn't planted it in the first place.

  1. People have been carving their names into trees and walls for centuries. I wonder about these people, who were they and what was happening in their lives on the day they left their mark.

  2. Yes, I wonder about that all the time. I also end up wondering about the little bits of graffitti I've left around the place, especially when I was younger. I wonder if any of that is still there now, and how long it will last.
